On the subtropical Japanese island of Amami-Oshima, traditions regarding nature remain eternal. In August under the light of a full moon, sixteen-year-old Kaito discovers a dead body floating in the sea during a night of traditional dances. His girlfriend Kyoko attempts to help him understand this mysterious discovery.

Together, Kaito and Kyoko mature into adults by experiencing the interwoven cycles of life, death, and love.
