Shot nearly a decade prior to its production, the film follows a poet as he sets off on an inhospitable “business trip” through Xinjiang. The physically exhausting tour provides an existential brothel visit, bumps along a bad road, and a glimpse of a disappearing world, as well as sixteen melancholy poems.
